9) More on Dairy and Prostate Cancer

There are an estimated 30-50 Million American ‘Adults’ (even more children) who are Lactose Intolerant in one form or another. Certain ethnic groups experience this intolerance in far higher numbers. For instance Asians and American Indians may experience Lactose Intolerance in up to 80-100 percent of their populations. The quality of life for those Lactose Intolerant is often diminished and yet they can’t quite put their finger why, so they just continue to suffer in silence. Symptoms of this intolerance, occurring immediately or to up to a few hours after eating, may include: skin rashes, chronic skin reactions, itchy nose and eyes, sneezing, runny nose, wheezing, breathlessness, coughing, nausea, cramping pains, bloating, vomiting and diarrhea. Doctors often misdiagnose Lactose Intolerance and true Dairy Allergies, or ignore it entirely, leaving their patients to wonder what is wrong with them.

Now let’s add those with Celiac Disease or Gluten Intolerance to this discussion. This is believed to be an autoimmune disorder that attacks the small intestine when exposed to the Gluten most commonly found in Wheat, Rye and Barley. Symptoms of Celiac Disease and Gluten Intolerance often include: bloating, diarrhea, fatigue, osteoporosis, arthritis, vomiting, autoimmune disorders, neurological problems, osteoporosis and even Cancer. This can be a chronic condition that tends to flatten and damage the villi and microvilli in the small intestine causing ‘lack of absorption’ thereby robbing the body of essential nutrients. In simple words you can eat lots of food, vitamins and supplements yet still be starving yourself. Over time the damage may progress further to transferring poisons into your body through a Leaky Gut Syndrome.

Today Celiac Disease is on the rise. Since the 1950’s the number those suffering from it have grown by 500%. It is unknown why this is happening but there may be a link to the more extensive use of Glutens found throughout today’s processed and ‘fast foods’, or even that our immune systems aren’t used as much as in the past. It is estimated at least 3 Million People have Celiac Disease and that does not begin to count those that are Gluten Intolerant.

Celiacs with damaged villi are no longer capable of catching and breaking down the Lactose they receive through Dairy. As they consume more Dairy, they continue to damage their body even further. Celiacs may experience a high rate of Lactose Intolerance and problematic symptoms long after removing Gluten from their diet. There is a train of thought that once Gluten is removed from a Celiac’s diet, the villi may repair themselves in one to two years and Dairy digestion would again be possible. Though if you are dealing with Cancer, why would you even want to consider re-introducing Dairy. Rice Milk, Almond Milk, Non-GMO Soy Milk, and Hemp Milk provide excellent options for Dairy, and there are fabulous Vegan Protein Powders as a direct substitution for whey Dairy protein.

It is also important to consider the several Gluten Cross Reactive Foods that 'may' plague one with Celiac. In these cases the immune system reacts with these as if they were Gluten. Some of these include: alpha and beta-Casein, amaranth, buckwheat, casomorphin, cheese, chocolate, coffee, corn, hemp, milk, millet, oats, potato, quinoa, rice, sesame, sorghum, spelt, tapioca, and yeast. Many people have little reaction with these, but it is wise to be tested just to be sure. Remember your body is unique, as are your food allergies and sensitivities. Anything that improves to your immune system will enhance your ability to heal.

In addition to Lactose Intolerance it is estimated around 50% of those with Celiac Disease and Gluten Intolerance also have an Allergy or Intolerance to Casein, the protein found in Dairy. This allergy will often extend to all forms of Dairy including eggs, cheese, whey, yogurt, and other cow/goat milk products. (Please read the previous post: 8) Treatment Begins – Dairy, Meat, and Prostate Cancer) My life is a perfect example of this process. Removing Gluten from my diet made a major difference to my health but I was continuing to experience troubling symptoms. It was not until I was properly tested by BioTek Laboratories and found I had severe allergies to Dairy did I start to really feel better. (Please read the previous post: 4) Decision for the Prostate Biopsy and Food Allergy Relief)

After 60+ years on this planet, my belief is that much of the disease we experience today comes solely from our environment. What we put into our bodies, and what we surround ourselves with both physically and mentally makes all the difference. In retrospect I probably had Celiac for much of my life along with Dairy Allergies. I was starving my body of essential nutrition though I was eating abundantly every day. This in turn compromised my immune system allowing the Prostate Cancer to take hold. I grew up in a mildly poor to middle class household where milk, sugar cereal, white bread, meat, potatoes, overcooked vegetables and sugar filled desserts were the norm with little deviation. That diet continued for much of my life. I wish I knew then what I know today. I now have the personal belief that my Prostate Cancer is the direct result of past diet.

If you take away anything from this Blog, I urge you to consider what you put into your mouth. Learn to Read the Ingredient Label first before purchasing. If there is Dairy, or Chemicals in the product you can’t understand, RUN AWAY! If you are experiencing any of the symptoms mentioned here, Get Tested Immediately for food Allergies and Celiac Disease by professional services similar to BioTek Laboratories through a professional source like Bastyr. The longer you wait may only cause further damage to your body and shorten your life.

If you have Prostate Cancer now, immediately do something about it. Relying only on standard medical procedures may prolong your life for a short time without releasing the Prostate Cancer or removing the cause. Ask yourself this question now, “How do I ever expect to heal if I am continuing to put the same crappy food into my body that caused the problem?” Allergies not withstanding, if you are eating Dairy and Meat you are on a slippery slope. Think of yourself as in a race. The prize is Continued Life. Each day you improve your health with a proper diet will extend your life further. The choice is yours.
